We won a SILVER MERIT Award at the BBC Gardeners World Live Show at the NEC in Birmingham in June 2024.
Take a look at our video of the garden on the left and photos are in the gallery section lower down the page. See if you can spot some familiar faces!
"The “Nature’s Embrace” Showcase garden encourages nurturing a child’s love for nature found through curiosity and imagination during play. Making a den; balancing along wooden beams; crawling through a tunnel or going on an adventure.
Embracing nature at an early age brings a deeper connection to our natural environment and supports positive physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Under the dappled light, amongst the flora and fauna, the garden is a space to be shared with all the family; creating new memories whilst also being evocative of childhood nostalgia. By embracing nature, it in turn embraces us. "

AFTER THE SHOW - FLOWERS MANOR CARE HOME
Elements of the Natures Embrace garden will be relocated to the Flowers Manor Care Home in Chippenham following the show. The Wild Thyme Team are dedicated to helping the care home community enjoy the garden once the show is over. We regularly volunteer at the garden to help it's residents have a relaxing and calming space to reminisce and spend time with families and other residents and staff.
SUPPORTING DEMENTIA AWARENESS
When a person has Dementia, it can be common to regress back to childhood memories; to school days and times of the past and happy days in the garden can become frequent thoughts in the later stages of the illness.
On a personal note, aside from gardening, my second passion is supporting anyone who may be dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's as I lost my father to this cruel disease in 2016 at the age of 72. The Alzheimer's Society recently shared dad's story on their social media and we also hope to have them as a sponsor to raise awareness of this awful disease.
